It’s that time of year again – when the temperatures start to dip and a long dark winter looms. It is also the time of year that great bargains can be snapped up for a last minute trip to the sun. The choice of resorts for December is a little limited in terms of sunshine warmth, but heading to the Egyptian Red Sea is a good deal better.

Average temperatures for December are around 19 degrees centigrade in Sharm El Sheikh, and about 17 degrees centigrade in Hurghada and Taba Heights. It may not seem all that warm, but compared to the UK it is still warm enough. Bearing in mind these are the average temperatures; temperatures reach highs of 24 to 25 degrees centigrade during December.

December is Sharm El Sheikh’s ‘rainy season’. With on average 4mm of rain during the month of December (compared to an average of 64mm of rain for London in December).

If you are planning some site-seeing then these temperatures are perfect, compared to the near 40 degree heat during the summer months. The swimming pools in many hotels are also heating during the winter months.

If you are into diving then the sea temperature is around 24 degrees Centigrade. The sea temperature in December is the warmest of the winter months and is often the best time to dive as the waters are clearer.
